a friend of mine used this stuff for substrate for a pair of rough greens, and one of them died from impaction from it :(
gingerpony Posted - 16/09/2009 : 22:24:35
and i think it's the stuff that you have to soak and it swells up........ increases the humidity far too much for corns

personally i'd go for paper as substrate till you can get some aspen........ it's cheap, convenient and i use it for the majority of my snakes

The coconut husk stuff?? Is it in brick form? or loose?

The loose stuff should be ok, it's very similar to aspen.
The brick stuff would be ok, but it can be difficult to split apart without water, and damp coco husk would play havoc on a corn.

However, I've not used it for my snakes myself, but have done for 'phibs and it doesn't cause any problems with them.
Someone will correct or agree with me either way. (Hopefully)

i dont know about coconut but if you have any kitchen towel or old paper shreddings they work just as well until you can get some aspen
