hi,
i have not got my snake yet but have started buying the equipment. to keep my hatchling in ive bought an exo terra medium breeding box. i have ordered a habistat 17x6 heat strip that i am going to put on the outside 1/3 rd. i have bought a longer strip because i am going to get another breeding box so i can have 2 snakes . my question is do i still need a stat with the strip on the outside? if so do i just put the sensor in 1 box and the second box should be the same temp as the first one right?

thanks
mark

Yep sound advice, some people run more than one heat mat from one stat but it's tricky so the general rule is one stat per heatmat. I'd have a digi them in each viv just to keep an eye on what heat your snakes are actually getting. It's also a good idea to get the set up ready a week or so before you fill the viv.

As above

yes you'll still need a stat. I have my heat outside the tubs too, with the thermostat probe taped directly to the mat, with a digital thermometer probe inside the tub. This way the probe can't get accidently dislodged potentially raising the heat and theres no risk of the snakes getting caught in the tape :)
