Is it normal for a corn to eat as usual but still lose weight ? ( talking of a few grams in a week between feeds )

it won't harm a male to be fed weekly, it's just they don't need to be, their metabolism is slower

Not sure; we think she's a she but she's not been properly sexed.

lol i'd probably stick to every 5 days till a year old but when you first increase the size of the meal stretch it to 7 days then work back down to 5.
have you got a male or female IP? by about 3 years i'm feeding males every 10-14 days and females weekly...

I'll offer her two on the next go and do it every week instead of every five days? What do you think o Wise One? The fuzzies I have are only a wee bit wider than her.

my yearlings were all on small mice by a year old, but DO determine the prey item size by the snake's size

Two fuzzies? :O Oh no have I been underfeeding Bella? She's about 8 months old now and has been on 1 fuzzy every 5 days for the past six feeds. She only has a slight bulge when she's eaten.
gingerpony Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:27:37
have you got a fuzzy to compare it to the size of your snakes at their widest point??

if you're that concerned just go to a vet insead of wasting time on here.............
janeann10uk Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:22:23
from caresheets food has to be no more than 1 and 1/2 times width of widest point of snake belly The babies are pretty small Just greedy !
gingerpony Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:18:40
so why not get them onto fuzzies and feed every 5 days?
janeann10uk Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:17:45
they alternate betwen 2 and 3 pinkies per feed
gingerpony Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:16:26
at about 6 months they're likely to be on 2 fuzzies a piece.............

but it depends how much less than 6 months.............
janeann10uk Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:15:01
less than 6 mths old
gingerpony Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:13:09
how old though? if they're adults or juvies there's no way its enough, a hatchie would be a different matter...........
janeann10uk Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:11:42
Fed every thursday Same time
janeann10uk Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:09:57
one lost 2 grams Been on 2 of pinkies for a few weeks. Two have lost 1 gram but both have shed in the last 2 days
gingerpony Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:09:00
basically no it's not normal, though you'd expect them to lose a few grams after they've 'emptied' themselves.......
gingerpony Posted - 19/08/2009 : 22:06:32
how old is the corn? what are you feeding it? how frequently?
