right so tonight i cleaned out all the snakes and set them up with unprinted newspaper instead of the woodchips. the milk and royal's temperatures are both spot on.

the corn snake on the other hand has heat problems. for some reason the temps just dont stay up. the thermometer read 24oC earlier before the stat kicked the heat in again. i've now turned the stat up a little bit and the heat is now kicking in when the thermometer shows 26oC.

any ideas why the temps are so messed up atm? :\

I have this prob wiith both of my Exo Terra Digi therms. I did a couple of test with a liquid mercury thermometer and found that one Digi was out by 2c and the other was out by about 3c so I trust the stats are correct and once ina while carry out tests with the liquid mercury. The next digi I get will be a different manufacture to see how that goes.

Perhaps it's the air tempurature..?

Strangely enough I had a similar problem two weeks ago. The temp probe said 35!, the stat said 28. Luckily it was the stat that was right. I'm not sure what caused it, both probes are together, and neither one was buried in the bark. I moved them around a bit, put them back in the same postion and the temp probe started to read the same as the stat. Not had a problem since though.

I thought it was just me...

not long ago checked the probes, both are sitting flat on the floor right next to eachother in the warm hide. pain in the ****. never had problems like this before. sigh!

I don't know. My thermometer was showing 34* earlier!!! Stat still said heat but I pushed both probes on the floor of the tank and temp dropped to 29. that was at midday and throw some ice cubes in his waterbowl;

but he wont come out the cool hide, so he's an intelligent snake
check your probes are both in the same place
