thats annoyed me that they never gave u any information. i work in a petshop, and have sold all sorts of animal over they years, and ive always gone through everythin bout the pet that someones buyin from cleanin out, feedin, handling and everything else, especially if its their first pet and i make sure that the leave with a caresheet.
how hard is it for someone to explain things, it only takes 20 minutes or so
sorry if anyone thinks im a moanin old fart

Was gonna try feed her on saturday again. How long before I should worry about her not eating?
HannahB Posted - 13/08/2009 : 21:01:43
have you tried braining it and warming it up slightly?
shes still settling in at the moment so she might not be wanting to feed..
what are the temps like her housing? temp can affect hunger sometimes
devilsmistress Posted - 13/08/2009 : 20:58:54
Give her a week to settle in, she should eat after that, dont worry about her going hungry, she wont! My corn is about the same length as yours and was born on 20th June, so I woul guess maybe around that sorrt of time, but like it has been said above, the diet could have affected that.

Phoned the shop all they can tell is they only just got the snake before i bought her and the usually feed the snakes on a sat about 4.30. When I got her it was only about 4 o`clock so she prob wasn`t fed when I was told she was. They are a bit of a nightmare lol. I tried to give her a pinkie earlier but she not touched it so far.
HannahB Posted - 13/08/2009 : 19:57:03
she sounds like one of this years but maintenance diet could be a factor
sounds like you def should go back and ask some questions let us know how you get on

Yeah I am going to go back ask some questions. Felt they just handed me my snake and that was it. As far as I know she was fed on sat when I bought her.I am going to try give her a feed tonight. So we will see if she will take it hopefully. Thanks for the replies

Can you not go back to where you got it and ask a few more questions. ie. age, feeding schedule, last shed etc.

It should at least have said CB09
gingerpony Posted - 13/08/2009 : 12:57:53
sounds like it's this years hatchling to be honest but neil's point above about maintenance diets can have a drastic effect on growth!
n/a Posted - 13/08/2009 : 08:25:38
It's very difficult to accurately age a snake even if you know it's length and weight because quite often in a pet shop they have been kept on a 'maintenance diet', which is basically feeding enough food to keep them alive without giving them any extra nutrients to grow very much.

Hiya, did they give you any details, such as feeding/shedding/poo chart? How about a care sheet with feeding details? I can't tell you how old your corn snake is, but would think it was this years. (Plenty folk on here to help you with that). Have you had a look at the care sheet that GingerPony has put on the site? Give it a look, and then post as much detail as you can, that way the help offered will be more specific. Ally.
