Posted - 13/08/2009 : 16:49:28 That's good news. best to bath him immediately (if you haven't already) to get that retained shed off. might cause some problems. |

Posted - 09/08/2009 : 21:06:37 Must admit that Kellog goes into hiding when he is blue. Once he reappears he is clear and it is usually 2 to 3 days before he sheds. We have made decision not to handle him during shed period or feed him, but then we are lucky as blue to shed is such a short period. Try to do as little as possible to stress him so keep to his terms. xxx |

Posted - 09/08/2009 : 18:37:36 I understand that snakes can cope fine without food, but what harm can it do to offer it anyway? my snakes always get fed on schedule, regardless of if they are shedding or not. at least they have the option of eating or not. |

Posted - 09/08/2009 : 10:25:39 Personally. I only change the water in the "blue phase" or in my case, with an amel their eyes go light pinky. when their eyes clear up I'd try a feed if its on feeding date. if he has missed feeding date then I'll leave him to shed as per norm.
he'll be find without food |

Posted - 09/08/2009 : 09:50:39 Regarding handling, when their eyes cloud over they are virtually blind, so can get very stressed by handling (some are fine), you may even get a bite.
Feeding - as above, some will some won't and your snake will be fine not eating for a few weeks if you don't offer. |

Posted - 09/08/2009 : 08:55:23 He will be fine without food for a couple off weeks. You could try feeding him when his eyes are clear, some snakes will feed some wont but it wont hurt it if you did leave it. |

Posted - 09/08/2009 : 08:42:47 its up to you as to whether you handle or feed them.. i handle mont but on his terms and if he was already out and about in his viv.. i usually offer him food but if he doesnt want it its only a pinkie and can buy more for him.. it depends on the snake.. some eat some dont..
he should be fine not having anything to eat - they can go a few weeks without food |

Posted - 09/08/2009 : 08:22:12 Hi Anna, once his eyes go back to normal it can take up to 2 weeks for him to shed but they normally shed within 7 days. I would leave the feed until after the shed. |
