i read on the substrate sticky thread that shredded paper can be used as a substrate.. iv just shredded a tonne of paper in my shredder and want to use it but am a bit concerned that mont could get cut or the ink will affect him..

am i worrying over nothing?

Darren your snakes must be 'ard; in mine's warm end I use chippings and in the cool end I use Aspen. it's about 4-1 inches tall and it loves to burrow in that! I level it off, he burrows and makes loads of funky tunnels. Yet since I made the chips so thin leveled off, he can't really burrow in them

Paper, hardly the eco-friendliest but cheap, and easy to clean!

20p Sun would go a while in a snakes tank though...

you may find mont gets into burrowing with the papers

oh cool.. mont isnt into tunnelling or burrowing (lazy snake!) but ive got tonnes of the stuff so will use that when the aspen runs out for a while

I used shredded paper for a long time (until I aquired a sack of aspen)
It was easy to maintain and rizla loved to tunnel through it.

The breeder I got Bam from used sheets of newspaper, (not shedded) and I did for a few weeks. Alot of people use it with no problems, so I dont think there wold be one. Just make sure the water bowl is not over filled so it gets the paper wet!
