mont has to be the laziest snake ever when it comes to feeding..

i wiggle the snake infront of him and luke tried aswell but he doesnt even bother to attempt to strike or anything... he just opens up his mouth straight up and eats..

the first time he did it so fast he had already got the head down while the tongs were still holding the pinkie!

is there any way to encourage him to strike or at least attempt to constrict? either way i dont mind whether he does or not but it would be nice to see him be a little bit more natural when it comes to eating..

does anyone else have a lazy snake or am i just a special owner?

Hugo sometimes strikes if I wiggle the pinky, if I just put it on the floor he ambles over and gently eats it! Im hoping when he gets onto larger food he may strike and constrict. I read in a book that in the wild they don't always constrict pinkys as they dont fight back like larger mice may do....maybe its just wishful thinking lol!

I have found that having an unsteady hand helps make the mouse sway.
This always has Sid strikeout and constrict.

James has struck and constricted once...and then never again

My 2 used to strike but they have given up, they just take it from the tongs now. I am going to start making it a bit harder for them now and not give it to them so easy. Hopefully they will constrict to keep hold of it.

he is very gentle about it..hes not even bothered that the pinkie is suspended still in the air - tbh i think hes just super lazy and is taking advantage of me holding the pinkie for him

my 16 year old corn gently takes the mouse from the tongs, he can't ever be bothered lol

the yearlings took a while to 'grow into' constricting though
