Made out of an old ikea TV stand/ coffee table thing. I basically cut it down to the sizes I wanted and stuck it all together. Used some backing from an old bookshelf for the back. It measures 3ftx2ft.

It's not quite finished as I need to add the vents, do the glass sliders and cut the persprex etc but thats a quick job so here is the frame.

I think to measure the perspex for the runners you would have to push your tape measure to the very top edge of the top runner and then measure it down to about 2mm from the top of the bottom runner.

As for the ventilation grill. I got one of these from B&Q (prod code: 5011141072578) for Sid's viv:-

Hi,

We'd imagine that a jigsaw would be ok to cut the perspex, but you'll probably need to sand all edges after cutting and prior to installing the doors.

Can't wait to see the finished product!

Good Luck!

does anybody know how to cut the perspex so its the right size and slots in properly?
n/a Posted - 17/09/2009 : 12:05:16
I've sealed it, got the runners on and the screw caps but I haven't done the perspex. I was going to cut it with a jigsaw would that be ok? And also how am I going to measure what size I need as obviously it has to be lifted into the top runner and "dropped" into the bottom runner. If you see what I mean?

Tryme, How old is your corn! Those gaps in the vent look a bit big, just thinking snakey might get out.

Ok I got the vents on, gonna need to seal em up on the inside round the edges as well me thinks.

You only need to worry about pine if it gets wet mate. And I don't think it is pine, thanks for the concern.

I don't think it is and even if it is as long as it's sealed correctly it's fine so don't worry about that mate.

Looks like pine to me, good luck with the all-over sealant.

Hard as nails is fine tryme. When you seal the viv with aquarium sealant just go round the glass runners as well
