Posted - 05/03/2014 : 16:34:58 Hi im gonna be getting another snake shortly yes I'm addicted (not sure my husband knows what he's letting himself in for ) but I've read somewhere you have to quarentine new snakes my question is how long for? And is this seperate rooms? Thanks xxx |

Posted - 06/03/2014 : 16:06:21 A separate room is best and as has been said 3 months is the recommended minimum with the new addition being dealt with after you have finished dealing with the original snake. ideally you would have separate cleaning and feeding equipment also |

From what I've gathered, the longer you can quarantine, the better - 3 months, or at least one whole shed cycle, whichever is the longer. It's also best if you attend to the new snake after you've done yours - that way, if it did have some problem, you're not carrying it to your snakes, and clean your hands before and after...the usual :-) |
