Posted - 31/12/2013 : 10:59:08 Hi. I've noticed a lot of people only have a heat mat for their snakes but I have a bulb in my viv with a guard. My question is whilst doing research it said I should follow the sunrise/sun set patterns for summer and winter for the snakes benefit. Is this true? Thanks |

Posted - 07/01/2014 : 10:39:26 Sorry for the late reply Kelly. You don't need both a heatmat and heat bulb in your corn's viv. It may be that having both will be causing the warm end to get too warm, although I'm assuming you've got both on thermostats??
I don't use heat bulbs, just mats, but I do have the lights in the vivs on timers. They come on at 7am and off at 10pm. I don't adjust it depending on the time of year and the light is really for my benefit rather than the snakes. Know it doesn't quite answer your question but hope it helps.

Posted - 31/12/2013 : 13:39:32 Yeah I have heat mat on constant 24hrs. What hours would you suggest for the heat bulb to come on and go off at? |
