Hi

I've got two Vivexotic Vivs, one with the circular vents at the back and one with 4 oblong vents (rounded corners) at the back. The viv with the circular vents has a Pro-Rep long Viv Lock and it works fine, but when I tried it on the viv with the oblong vents, it was really tight between the lock and glass and I was frightened of scratching the glass or breaking it.

Has anyone got a 3ft Vivexotic Viv with the oblong vents at the back, if so, do you use a long metal lock and if so, what brand? Do you also find pushing past the lock was tight between the lock and glass?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Merry Christmas to you all.

They won't be able to put holes in the existing glass as it will be toughened and therefore shatter if they tried but the glazier will be able to supply New glass with a hole in and then toughen it.

Hiya

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Thank you all for your messages, as you have all said it seems to be a common problem with Vivexotic's older vivs, which is probably why they have redesigned their vivs and have put a hole in the glass doors so that they can be locked using one of their locks.

I have currently got a couple of the rubber wedges (that some of you mentioned) which I will use for now and then in the New Year, I am going to contact Vivexotic to find out whether their new doors with the holes in can be purchased separately or not, if not then I'm going to get one of Swell UK's own metal long lock (which again was mentioned by one of you).

If anyone is interested in finding out whether the doors can purchased or not, I will put the information on this thread.

Thanks again for your messages.

I used one of swell reptiles own brand and although not a exact fit it was good enough and didn't scratch the glass (rubber wedges do stop snakey getting out but they don't stop little people from getting in ).

Rubber wedges work great I got mine from ebay for about £1 each :)

Thank goodness....I couldn't get a lock to fit either! Did wonder if it was me but they're so simple to fit I couldn't see how I could be doing anything wrong.....I'm wedging it too lol!

As above a common problem - I use rubber wedges as well.

Merry Christmas to you too :)

This is a very common problem with that range of vivs and there is no lock that will fit properly.
