Hi. I have a 5ft viv set up from when I had bearded dragons. It has spot light and a uv tube. I've purchased a bulb guard for the spot bulb. My partner got me it and whilst at the pet shop he asked about the uv tube to which he was told "we can keep it in and don't need a cover as they don't get hot enough to cause any damage to the snake and some snakes actually like to coil round them"

Opinions please?!

homemade guard made from chicken wire should do the trick, is just something to keep snake from hanging off the light.

Thank you for moving.. I only want to keep the uv because it's already in the viv etc and would mean taking it apart to remove it. How would I guard it?

from UV its not the heat thats the issue. UV bulbs are very brittle and snakes grip well the issue is breaking the uv bulb. It really should be guarded to be on the safe side.

oh and moved ;)
