Posted - 27/11/2013 : 21:44:13 One of my shop bought branches in my viv is turning green? Should I just give it a scrub and put it back in?
Also, can pine door knobs be put in my viv is I coat tem with something? If so, what can I cover them with.
Lastly, what should I clean the viv glass with?
Thanks guys! |

My favourite glass cleaner is 1pt Vinegar to 5pts water.. wipe vigorously with yesterdays news paper.
Vinegar is also a marvellous mould killer, Pickling vinegar is better (stronger acid).
Not 100% on the Pine furniture, given how generic 'knobs' are IMO use stainless or brass. Anything you use to coat them is likely to off-gas even nastier things that you don't want in your viv... like formaldehyde. |

Posted - 28/11/2013 : 00:36:37 No idea why your wood might be turning green. Might be worth taking it out, scrubbing it and then oven baking it, low and slow, to make sure anything that might be growing there is killed.
Are you wanting to put the pine knobs in to hang something off them? I'm guessing that they'd be ok but I'm not 100% sure. I'm not a DIY person .
As for cleaning the glass I use F10 to clean mine, whenever I do a full clean. But just soapy water would probably be fine as long as it is rinsed well.
Not much help, I know . Sorry.
