Posted - 22/09/2013 : 12:29:55 Hi. I'm just wanting some opinions from other corn snake owners. Basically I've had my snake since February. He's 55g and thanks to a person on here using the snake measurer around 2ft. I have a vivarium sat empty due to lizard dying an thought bout puttin him in there. The viv is 48" long x 18.5" wide x 21" high.
I wondered if he'd be ok there's plenty of hides and plants etc. But I was thinking of getting some wood an temporarily dividing the tank. Or Would he just be ok going in?' |

Posted - 24/09/2013 : 20:52:50 My OH wont hold my snake but has come to look on them as part of the family (yes I have a strange family lol) she was a bit upset when in my local petshop and the anaconda they have there hissed at her. The exact words were you won't get me in that bloody place again |

Posted - 24/09/2013 : 20:38:24 I'm more worried that my partner will go mental!! He doesn't like the snake, he gave me a lecture about a python in the pet shop striking at a customer when I took partner to see it (an hoped he's buy me it as a Xmas pressie) lol fat chance |

over the overlap glass in middle, or if glass does not fit properly at one end like i have had to do with Kellogs.
As was said, there have been pics posted of quite big snakes getting through the overlap in glass, quite scary seeing them manage that |

The uv tube is more than likely going as I was thinkin if boxing 1-2 ft of the viv off til he's bigger. The tube wil just make boxing more difficult. A guard is on order as I went to the pet shop an they didn't have any. I do have a lock since I have a 4yr old daughter who loves him!! just because I was supervising him it wasn't on. As for the gap between the glass front I'm pretty sure he's too fat to squeeze through it but I was thinking of gettin some of the draft excluder tape
Other people think that too - try scrolling down this thread - you'll know what to when you see it
Sorry, didn't realise you only put him in for a 'tester', thought you had moved him in permanently |

Posted - 22/09/2013 : 21:15:53 Personally I would have said there is nothing like enough coverage there - unless the aspen is deep enough and he likes tunnelling enough to get from one hide to another - but he is more likely to just stay in 1 hide whether it is the correct temp or not rather than risk being seen in the open. As above the bulbs are absolutely not safe and need guards, and do you have a lock for the viv doors that you just haven't got on in the pic? You need to get a paper binder on the door (or just stuff them with cardboard for the time being) and a lock on there quick, or you're going to be looking for an escaped snake...
Not having a go, just would rather not see another escaped snake thread on here if it can be helped ;) |

Posted - 22/09/2013 : 21:03:30 Lovebug if you are moving into that viv you need a guard for both the lamp and the tube, personally I would take them both out as they are not the safest of things for cornsnakes |
