Just wondering if any of the shift workers on here handle their snakes at unsocial hours.
I work various shifts which cover virtually all 24 hours. This means I start and come home at some unusual times compared to the normal 9-5ers.
I've just got in now having finished at 3 and my snake is up and about.
Light from the tv and kitchen are all that's on.
I've read corn snakes are active mainly at dawn and dusk but my snake dodge varies day to day. Is there any harm in handling at 3am? I'm guessing if he's hiding away then not to disturb but if he is out is it ok or what do other shift workers do?

I think, that to the snakes, the unsociable hours are actually during the day, when they're sleeping. They are mostly active during the evenings and early hours of morning, but I know that Twid is usually out around midnight -1 in the morning. I'd say they're more likely to be awake at night, then during the day, and you'll have some peace and quiet for handling, too :-) |

I often get my snakes out at strange hours, such as 3am or 5am. They are more active at that time of night than during the day and seem more inquisitive when being handled.
I do occasionally get them out during the day too and they are slower and less curious until they have 'woken up' a bit and gradually become more active  |

Fellow shift worker here. I would say we get the better end of the deal when it comes to seeing our corns at unsociable hours. Mainly because they are active during the night.
I'd say there's difference in handling at 3am, to any other time.
