Hi- probably a stupid question but I have the microclimate ministat as my thermostat and I wondered whether it was ok to have the heat mat plugged into an extension lead plugged into the wall and whether it would affect the stat at all- the leads are quite taught as they are and I have tried shifting the cabinet and viv to an easier plug point but this is the nearest I can get with it atm, so was wondering if the stat would still function if the heat meat was on a small extension to the plug socket (not the stat but the main heat at cable)

The only possible problem - if you extend the heatmat - to stat distance, will the stat probe reach the mat? |

you will be fine using an extension lead whichever way you want ie from the mains to the stat or from the stat plug to the mat plug |

Thankyou both- I meant I was trying to extend the heat mat cable but confused myself there! Sorry about the double topic post not sure how I managed that but the other should be deleted now! |

The heat mat needs to be plugged into the stat but you could use an extension to lengthen the heat mat cable to the stat with no problem |

the mat has to be plugged into the mat stat, the stat can attach to an extension.. |
