Posted - 02/08/2013 : 08:10:01 OP, if you put polystyrene both side of an unstatted heat mat you are just asking for a fire! As above, get a stat asap. |

Posted - 30/07/2013 : 18:17:14 Depending on how hot your house is at the moment with all this hot weather you may find that your lower temp snakes such as corns matts will not be on during the day. But as has been said before to the original post, your local reptile shop will sell thermostats at a reasonable price that way you know that your temps are okay and can stop worrying about them. |

Posted - 28/07/2013 : 21:03:29 Saying that tho I have a heat strip that I have 3 5lt rubs on the stat probe along with thermometer it stuck on the heat mat between 2 of the rubs the temps have been really high lately (30oC) I thought it was due to the weather got the stat set to 28 but its not kicking in because temps aren't dropping |

Posted - 28/07/2013 : 19:29:10 Lee you need to get the heat down to about 28 at least. Either raise the viv more or move it so that a smaller area is in contact with the viv. Maybe put the heat mat on the side instead of underneath until you get a thermostat. |

Posted - 28/07/2013 : 17:34:18 As long as you haven't fed your corn in the last 3 days I would switch the mat off and then get a stat ASAP. It is certainly warm enough for him/her to go for a while without additional heat as long as he/she has not just eaten. |

If you have a thermostat stop messing around by putting things on it and turn the thermostat down, problem solved |

Posted - 28/07/2013 : 17:06:11 that temp is too high, you either need a thermostat to control the temp or for now raise the viv further from the mat (which is a temporary measure). You want it at 28 hot end. |

Posted - 28/07/2013 : 16:47:50 what are you using to regulate the heat mat. If you havent got a stat there is nothing you can do to drop the temps. |
