Posted - 15/07/2013 : 19:10:37 Hi. I know no one will know for definite but I just wondered if people would have a rough idea of how old my corn snake is? I got him on sat 23rd fed 2013. On 10/03/2013 he weighed 12g ATM he's 26g and roughly 17" (1ft5) So I've only had him in my care for nearly 5months. Hope you can shed some light although I'm aware it's not always definite Thank you! |

Posted - 17/07/2013 : 21:05:15 I love the picture of him curling around your thumb- very sweet indeed :-) He has such lovely colouring.
I'm known as the mad cat lady with the snake in polite circles :-) I only have 2 of my own cats and Boris of course and sometimes a foster cat but where I live is only small so is just right for me- when i win the lottery I will have a massive house with dedicated snake rooms and dedicated cat rooms as well as a Donkey (I dont do the lottery so the chances of me winning are slim lol) |

Posted - 16/07/2013 : 20:04:52 Thanks he's dedinatley cute. I've had no issues with him he eats all the time. Sheds every month. A dog is on my wish list always has been. But the lizard I had for years same with the cat. The rat my partner actually talked me in to gettin him he's nearly 2.5yr old.. I would love a Maltese puppy but the partner says its too girly lol he's happy with a blue staffy :-) I would have a zoo if I could |

Posted - 16/07/2013 : 16:13:46 At first, my husband was all "your snake, you sort it" and wouldn't hold her but little by little she has won him over and he is generally first in having a look in the morning (now on both of them). He still doesn't like picking them up as they are quite tiny (33g and 18g) but will happily hold them for ages
He has a HUGE tank of tropical fish, so that is his thing. We have 5 children (4 teens and one 20 year old) and between them they have 2 dogs and a cat. They have been informed that when they leave home, the dog/cat owned by them goes with them! The better half and I can't wait for the day that we have silent pets that don't poop all over the garden and require walking (I am in a wheelchair so that is a bit of a pain when the kids are "too busy").
Yes, we have "crazy fish man" and "crazy snake lady" in mind for when they all leave home!
So I take it a puppy is on your wishlist now? What kind would you like? We have got a St Bernard and a King Charles Cavalier, both of whom are totally bonkers (fit right in here!) |

Posted - 16/07/2013 : 16:00:52 Aww that's nice of your mum. Maybe I need to see my mum about Xmas lol. My partner doesn't like the snake at all!! Hate it when he's around and I get him out. He says we have enough pets as we also have a cat and a rat. My daughter has 2 goldfish, he says if we want any luck of gettin a puppy no more pets lol |

Posted - 16/07/2013 : 15:50:34 It took me a long time to talk my husband round into getting Cathy (my first). I had to read up lots, and I actually joined this forum before getting her so he could see that there would be help if I needed it.
Delilah was a bit of a different story. I had asked my Mum to pop into Pets at Home to get me some sphagnum moss as Cathy was shedding (and the shop is the other end of the Island I live on). Whilst Mum was in there she saw Delilah and fell in love with her. I am 40 in October so she bought her for me as an early 40th Birthday present! I was rather impressed. She knew I an empty viv as Cathy had just moved up a size so in Delilah moved!
I am really sorry to hear about your beardie
I think I am going to have to leave it at that or my husband won't be too happy at all! He thinks I am bonkers enough as it is!

Posted - 16/07/2013 : 14:33:30 Ohh, his orange is coming out really strong now - he looks fantastic in his new clothes
I have just got a little Carolina myself and she is starting to get her orange too. She is a CB13, and my little snow is a CB12 - she is much less see through than when I got her and is starting to whiten up and get yellow cheeks.
I love the changes that they go through from hatchlings to fully grown snakes. Cathy (snow) is on fuzzies and my little Carolina is on double pinkes. She is due another feed tomorrow and is a little piggy! |

Posted - 15/07/2013 : 20:26:50 Again, foxtrotsierra bet me to it! But i do agree with her. Dont worry about rate of growth as they all are different. :) |

Posted - 15/07/2013 : 20:12:38 Hi lovebug and welcome to the forums. I wouldn't worry about the size of your corn as they all grow differently, just like people do. As long as he eats well for your, poos, wees and sheds without problem you have a healthy snake.
I was wondering the same as you when I first got my first snake, but it was explained to me the way I have passed it on to you. Hope it helps, and would love to see some pics |
