Posted - 06/07/2013 : 23:09:15 As some of you know, Sid is due her first feed tomorrow. I have looked at several threads and I haven't quite come to a conclusion whether to feed her in her viv or in a seperate container. Is one method better than the other? I have only had her a week and she is only 3 months old if that makes any difference. I was told by the person at Pets at Home that if she refuses the food that I should take it out and offer it again a couple of hours later? Is this correct? I just want to double check with you guys as you seem to know a lot more than Pets at Home |

Posted - 07/07/2013 : 09:17:51 As it's her first feed with you, I'd feed in the viv, to minimize any disturbance. If you keep her on kitchen towel, there's no problem, if she's on aspen, pop in a piece of kitchen towel with the defrosted mouse on it ( you can even warm the mouse slightly ).
I'd feed in the evening, as that's when they tend to look for food in nature, and it's quieter all around. Some snakes like to eat in the dark, and are more likely to eat in private - so you could even put a towel over her viv, and you can leave the mouse with her overnight. If the mouse isn't gone by morning, then you'll have to take it out, and throw it away. I wouldn't offer again till several days later, as you can put the snake off eating, if you offer too often.
When she's had several feeds with you, and is confident, then you can decide if you want to feed her in or out of the viv - but, to be honest, both is fine :-) |
