Those of you who use the facebook page will have seen my posts about my escaped ghost corn, Ser Loras. This is him:

He lives in his cardboard tube all the time, and when I do his daily water change I peek in to see if he's okay. One day the week before last (I think when I was running late) I didn't secure his faunarium lid, and he escaped. I didn't notice until Sunday when I went to feed him because I am a terrible person : (

This has been a week of following advice from lots of forum threads, meaning many bottle traps and cooked fish and making sure there's water about the place. All with no results : (

Just before bed last night, my boyfriend went to switch the timer on on the heater and saw a little face peeking out at him over the top of the boiler. My sister came over to help with the capture/rescue because I had used my last mice in the previous day's bottle traps.

We set up new bottle traps and tried to tempt him out with a mouse but he was having none of it. We even got hold of his tail at one point, but had to let go when he dived back behind the boiler.

FINALLY today he decided he was hungry enough to come and chase a mouse. My trip to the reptile shop this morning had included the purchase of a hook which we used to nab him when he looked like he might prefer his dangerous hiding place to a soft delicious mouse.

We got him and put him in his feed box with his water (which he guzzled like nobody's business) and gave him a reward for being so terrible at escaping the hook:

The end!

Thanks everybody : )

I'll be sure to pass on these compliments. Hopefully they'll inflate his head a bit so that next time he'll find it physically impossible to escape.

*cough*now then dear Kellog,as you may already know Anery type corns sometimes have a 'flocking'instinct-look at how Thumper attracted Fluffy back home?and if you look in the D.I.Y. posts you will see a whole stack FULL of all snakes Aneryish-maybe best to 'gently encourage'this SPLENDID snakey to fly down south?

O.K then, sorry MissBox-I'm still a bit giddy and shocked that my Royals have both eaten
Kellog Posted - 26/05/2013 : 22:40:51
He is SO gorgeous Mell *sighs*. It's great that you were finally able to 'encourage' him out of his hiding place....and I'm so glad the weather got a bit colder and your boyfriend went to the boiler controls!

I can only begin to imagine how relieved you, and your sister, were to have him safe, back where he should be, getting the sustenance he obviously needed .

If he needs punishment for escaping then sending him to live with me would be the perfect solution !

Aw well you see another splendid escapologist 'Anery family'snakey
Lurve the yellow-If he's like a lot of other aneryish snakes ,that yellow will just keep on getting brighter and further down his body
Well done you for a happy capture too.

He looks great, awesome to hear that you found him back! :)
MissBox Posted - 26/05/2013 : 18:29:29
Yeah. He was very hungry and thirsty. He actually burst the mouse, which was obviously a joy to watch -__-

So pleased we got him though, I was starting to think it'd be one of those stories where he turns up months later. Phew!
