Posted - 10/04/2013 : 16:28:18 Well Oscar never ate lastnight which is a first!
He started to swallow it, then spat it out, which was odd though. Putting it down to breeding still, not sure if it is that though. He's still very active though and tail shaking, hissy when i go in his viv. Although absolutely fine once i have him out. Little git haha!
Shall i leave it a few days before attempting a feed again? |

I'm like you, I wish cameras could capture the true beauty of our snakes....although they do a pretty good job going by your pic of Oscar !

Posted - 11/04/2013 : 12:59:36 Yeah maybe something has and i just haven't noticed! That's what i thought was a bit odd.
Thank you, i do get alot of compliments about him he is very pretty, his colours are much more vibrant than that in real life, cameras just don't capture it as well as i wish they could! |

Posted - 11/04/2013 : 12:53:32 The mouse definitely is the right size Alannah. Personally I'd put it down to him being disturbed in some way, rather than it being breeding season. I know his behaviour is showing his hormones are flowing , but I would have thought that if he wasn't going to eat then he wouldn't have even taken it. It is probably just a one-off, him being difficult ....and I would definitely agree with Moppet about not feeding him again until he's next due. He can easily miss this feed and, as has been said, offering food too often will stress him.
He is a gorgeous looking snake . I do love how 'rich' his colouring is....and it must be even better in real life.

Posted - 10/04/2013 : 18:29:09 Sounds like it could be the breeding season. His behaviour would indicate that. It's certainly not because the mouse is too big!! He's a gorgeous looking boy. |

Posted - 10/04/2013 : 18:07:58 cool will do. well I'd been given wrong size lasttime (smalls) so had fed him 2 of them, and this was 1st time back onto large. I'll post a pic of him neside it which I took, def not too big. no change in environment when feeding or anything. thanks |

Posted - 10/04/2013 : 17:02:45 Was it larger than normal? Or were there any loud noises or vibrations etc for him to pick up on?
I would leave it a normal length of time between meals before trying again. Offering food too often can make a snake even less likely to eat |
