Hi all I'm new to this site but have been reading a lot of stuff on here, over last few days. I have a hatchy ghost corn called popcorn. I got him last feb (23rd) and he shed within a week! He was on 1 pinkie every 5 days for 4 weeks and is now on 1fuzzie a week and has just had his 3rd fuzzie Monday gone. Never had a problem with feeding him. He strikes then constricts his food. He's about 17" long and weighs 28g. He's the length plus width of his faun in length, but only the size of my pinkie in size. But I'm wondering why he's still so nervous when it comes to picking him up. Once I've got him he's fine, even with my 2 daughters and partner. Oh and I've been crapped and peed on so I'm well and truly christened too lol.

with regard to the Pets @home food, they go by the weight of the food so even thought it might not have fluff it will be in the weight bracket. They usually have a chart that details the weight and size for each prey size.

Kellog I'm hoping its a shed sign as he's to shed since feb so fingers crossed.

I've requested to joint the fb page so ill post some pics on there asap. I'm gonna give him 1 fuzzie a week for next 2 weeks then go up to 2 fuzzies a week then if all good, move up to a .....fluff is it or a small mouse?

P@H stores do differ, I use one regularly and they've been fantastically supportive in weighing out what I need for the snake that I've had feeding issues with....so don't tar all stores with the same brush !

It does differ in different parts of the country as to what is a fuzzie, what's a fluff, and they even have different names. Also there is an overlap with the sizes, so I expect that everything you bought was within the fuzzie size but it happened that you got a pinkie and a couple of fluffs too. To be honest it doesn't really matter...all Popcorn cares about is that he has something to eat .

Smartbunny is right about the colour change. Some morphs change a lot from hatchling to adult, it's hard to believe they are the same snake. With others the change isn't quite so drastic but it still happens. It MAY be that his belly going yellowish is a sign that he is coming up to going 'blue'. With my adult ghost the first sign is definitely his belly changing colour, going cloudy and creamy. Just keep an eye on his eyes to be sure.

Hope you manage to either sort out a photobucket account and post pics via that or join some of us on Facebook and post your pics that way. Never thought of doing it like that Carmil....a really good idea .

I open the pic on facebook, I then right click on mouse and then click on copy image location.
I then come on here and start a topic or click on reply to topic at the bottom of the page.
Above the message box where you type your reply there a small box with a picture of what looks like mountains on a yellow background (insert image) click one this and it gives you image codes, click between the two of them then right click on mouse and hit paste
Hope this makes sense and is of some help to you
There's also a facebook group where you could share your pics https://www.facebook.com/groups/31273049277/

hey, if your on facebook and have pics of popcorn on there you can also use the http:/ addy from those pics :)
That's what I sometimes do

I'd have thought that too but the fluffs are bigger or at least seem bigger than the fuzzies. An that's reassuring about the colour. A few people have told me he's due a shed soon but no signs yet.
smart bunny Posted - 07/04/2013 : 19:06:12
Fluffs and fuzzies are the same thing aren't they?! The yellow colour is a normal development on the sides of a lot of morphs.

Welcome to the forum Popcorn . You've been given some great advice already, so I haven't got much to add. With him still being so nervous when you go to get him out, a lot depends on how you do it....whether you give him enough warning so he isn't surprised, whether you go to pick him up from above which will scare him, etc. Handling tips may be worth a read to give you some ideas of other things to try with him.

It sounds as though you are definitely doing ok with him. As long as there is still a 'bump' when he eats his fuzzie, then he's doing fine . Once that 'bump' isn't very noticeable you can increase it to 2 fuzzies for a few feeds and then move up to fluffs. It may be that he always remains thin, in which case, as he gets older, you'll have to watch his prey size....never giving him anything that is more than 1.5 times the width of the widest part of his body.

As for moving him to a bigger viv, with him equaling the length and width of his faun he is definitely ready for it. Just make sure there is lots of cover, as Kev5 said, with hides, plants, logs, stones, branches, etc.

Take your time with him, it really is down to patience....and trust the fact that you know what you're doing !

As i said to someone else mate not all corn snakes are the same some are bigger than others even if they are from the same clutch, if he eating and pooing he will shed so dont worry and ordered my other halfs corn yesterday as a supprise :)
Popcorn Posted - 06/04/2013 : 15:23:39
The just under 3 foot one is perfect for the space I have for it. Once I get money ill get it an hopefully most of the stuff I have in the faurn will be useful in viv. Just surprised he's only had one shed since feb, an there's no sign of him shedding yet.

I was in the pet shop yesterday Popcorn, and saw the VivExotics one that you were linked up to (just in a different colour). I had a really good look and they do seem really good value for money
