Kellogs is now 2 and had her worst ever shed, normally perfect, but this time waaaay to many teeny bits to count, in the ivy, hides, tunnel just every where. i have gave her a good looking over, but none is on her which was a bit surprising.
sheesh she made a mess!

The good thing is you are aware of these things and Kelloggs wont have to lose part of her tail like our poor George did.

You weren't to know she'd struggle this time without having a moss hide, but it probably is a good idea to add one next time, although hopefully the weather will have warmed up by then so the central heating will be off and the air not so dry....I can live in hope !

I don't use a moss hide, because I feel it then takes away their choice of going in the cool hide if they don't like the moss one. Instead I put in an extra water bowl on the heatmat and mist the warm side lightly once a day, which seems to work. But different things suit different snakes, and different owners . I do hope Kelloggs has a better shed next time.

I think a lot of snakes are struggling at the moment, maybe because its been so cold and we've got the central heating on more than usual, so the air is drier. Do you usually do anything to raise the humidity slightly while she is 'blue'? I guess you've never had a need to, as she's shed fine before.

It's just so dry - Little T's last shed wasn't that good - in fact, I still haven't found some head and neck bits - but none of it is on him.

At least she got it all off by herself :-)

I'd feel inclined to up the humidity as soon as she goes blue next time.

Hence why I always put in a moss hide.
