Dont really rate komodo products brought their thermometer and it broke within 2 days, i have the same komodo faun thats not too bad only problem with it is corner pops out for you to put thermostat probe in aswell as themometer probe, just dont fully push it out as youll end up with a big gap that the snakey will get out of :)

or you all get one each!! (when I said corns are addictive, I forgot to mention that we don't help :-) we encourage it)

Or.. someone else gets the first choice - then next one is your turn lol!
carmil07 Posted - 28/03/2013 : 13:42:57
MMm....hopefully it won't come to that lol if it does then so doubt the kids will get the final say.
Who am I kidding, it will be me LOL

I'm glad you've got the set-up ordered and due for delivery Cara....and that you're going to get it up and running well before it becomes home to your new snake .

Sorry about the ghost being gone, they are beautiful....but then I'm biased towards ghosts . I'm sure you won't have a problem finding another snake just as lovely as the ghost. The only problem you'll have is that you'll like one, your husband will like another and your kids will each have a different one they like !! I want to know who gets the deciding vote??!

Thanks herriotfan :) I will set it all up when it arrives and make sure it is all in working order, temps are correct etc before we go snake shopping
Phoned surrey pets before placing order to check if it would be delivered tomorrow if ordered today and they said it won't be as they are snowed under :-/ so phoned blue lizard and they said if ordered today my order will be with me tomorrow so ordered with them instead
So hopefully be snake shopping at the weekend, we did contact the local rep shop to reserve the ghost corn but it sold after we left yesterday
All excited now

One suggestion....get everything setup and running for a few days prior to getting your snake.
That way if you run into any problems you have time to sort them out before your little one's arrival.
It won't take long for the right snake to choose you!!

haha please don't tell hubby they are addictive he may change his mind about us getting one ;)
He was off work today so we went in to our local reptile shop where the owner had just got back with his live feed etc and...... 3 baby corn snakes :D He's expecting more in friday if the weather stays nice.
So we're going to order the setup tomorrow and take the kids in saturday to choose one
he had two anery's (one of which I held) and a ghost which hubby held. I was quite taken with the ghost she seemed so relaxed.Had a wee nosey up hubbys arm then wrapped herself around his hand when hubby stroked her lol.

hehe yes I have read that topic Kellog it was very helpful.
I'm gutted surrey pets are closing online too they really are fab and so good with their prices.
Don't know who I'll use when they've gone [:/]
As you said I don't have any morph in mind, as long as it's happy, friendly and healthy I'm not too bothered about the morph. x

sounds like a good list, as Kellog says its nice to see some one doing their research, one word of warning though snake are very addictive and you may not stop at one :-) look forward to pics when you get him/her

You've got a great shopping list there Cara . I just hope you manage to get it all from Surryey Pets before they shut their online shop. So sad that they're doing that .

I'm guessing that you've read Setting up a hatchling corn snake - My 101. It's good to see that you are doing all your research before getting your snake....and getting its set-up first so you can have it up and running before bringing your new snake home.

You are right about there being so many different morphs. And they also change so much from hatchlings to adults. What I would suggest is that you don't settle on any particular morph, but instead go shopping for your snake open-minded about what it will be. I think all too often 'normals' and anerys and amels are written off because they aren't 'special' enough ....but they are so beautiful in their own ways !! I'm sure that when you see 'your' snake you will just fall in love with it, no matter what morph it is .

Whatever snake you get will be very blessed to be coming to an owner who is taking such care in their well being, even before you've got it .

I will certainly post lots of pics when we get him/her :)
Still on the hunt for one just now, there's a couple of rep shops I'm going to try and been in touch with a local reptile rescue too not come across any local breeders yet though
Not really decided on a morph, will see what's available and go from there I think. I have looked at the different morphs but there's too many to choose from lol
herriotfan Posted - 26/03/2013 : 10:23:12
Looks good to me.
You'll have to post photos of your new addition when you get him/her.
Have you found a breeder or are you still looking at where to get your snake from?
Have you decided what morph you'd like or will you see what's availible first?
I'm nosey....love hearing about everyone's snakes!!
carmil07 Posted - 26/03/2013 : 10:12:28
I know :( Got an email yesterday, so plan on getting it all by Saturday the latest ;) Thanks x

Your list is looking good, although surrey pets are shutting their online store this saturday (the actual shop itself is staying open though)
