Too bad you don't have a light coloured morph like an amel, you can actually see their organs by holding them up to a bright light ^^

Sorry, forgot to add: you count the pairs of the belly scales, on the tail. :-)

There are no reptile vets near me. I have a bearded dragon an when she was sick the closest one was over an hour away. As the above person said think il just stick to him. Thanks tho

There's also " pinging ", and the scale count method.
I've read about pinging, ( don't know if I spelled it right ), and tried it on Little T, when he was a hatchie. I never dared to try popping, but this is easier. You very gently run your fingers down their tail, from the vent, to the tip. At the base of male's hemi penile pocket are supposed to be the muscles, that evert the hemi penae, and you can feel these ( on hatchlings ). It feels a bit like a twang of elastic, but not quite. It works, if the snake is relaxed. I could really feel the bulge, where the muscles where. I then tried Bazil - nothing, just tail, felt the same all the length. That's when I first suspected she may be a female ( and by the shape of her tail ).

Scale count method - you count the pairs of the scales, from vent, to the tip. Females will have somewhere between 59 - 70 pairs of scales, males 70 -80. This is best done on a nice, complete shed.
It's still not 100%, Bazil probed as a female, and she has 70 or 71 pairs, Little T's got 71 or 72, so not really that much difference. It's a real pain, counting scales on tiny sheds, though.

Im not 100% on the sex of mine either, pets at home say hes a male but they also said uv lights r a number 1 must, dont think they have a clue to be honest. Gunna get him sexed wen ive persuaded other half to let me have a tessera. Stick to calling him a him, trust your instinct!

with tail length the theory is that on a female the tail tapers off straight after the vent and is not as long, the male's tail is longer and is the same thickness after the vent where the hemipenes are before tapering off. although its not very accurate.

Tail length is a rough way of sexing snakes if you have a good selection of snakes to compare.
Have you got a reptile vet near you, they could tell you?

I thought he'd prob be too small ATM. I've been refering to him as a he! Just need a name now. I just thought cos some ppl have mentioned tail length etc

there is the option of popping as scaly said or probing, both of which need to be done by some one who knows what they are doing, looking at the picks of the wee worm 'he' would is too small to probe, both popping and probing aren't 100% anyway. So if your not bothered about breeding (which you'd have to wait 3 years for 'him' to mature anyway) then I would just pick whether you want to refer to snakie as a he or a she. My 8 hasn't been sexed but I refer to him as a he.

I don't think I know a pet shop local who could do that. I travelled 40miles for him. There's some pics in the photo section he only weighs 9g

How big is he/she?

You can get it popped by a professional but it really needs someone with experience to do it
