Thoughts please :)

Posted - 30/01/2013 : 10:33:22 The monkfields are great. I have Orlando in the 24" one and he loves it. The height in the 24" is plenty for corns, but the 18" is really small and would be a waste of money for a 9 month old corn. Blue lizard reptiles sell them at a very good price |

Posted - 30/01/2013 : 09:38:41 I absolutely love the look of the Monkfields - but sadly decided against one as I feel they just aren't high enough, only 6/8 inches high depending on the width. |

Posted - 30/01/2013 : 09:15:17 That's one of the Monkfields. If your snake isn't interested in climbing they're great. They're easy to set up and use, got my Leopard Gecko in one. Personally for my cornsnakes I still prefer a vivarium. |

Posted - 29/01/2013 : 13:35:16 Thanks so much! I think ill go for a wooden one and just have a better look round, ill post a pic of my next idea haha! |

Posted - 29/01/2013 : 11:06:46 The terrariums really aren't suitable for corn snakes because they have mesh tops and it's more difficult to retain the heat a corn needs. A wooden vivarium is by far the best housing for your snake. As long as you give your snake lots of hides and cover then it could go in a viv now. The Monkfield is ideal if your snake isn't a climber. If you like the look of the terrariums they make excellent homes for crested geckos!!! |

Posted - 29/01/2013 : 09:41:18 I bought the same size for my daughter's first corn snake, he was 11 months old and only got 2 months out of it before needing something bigger. It did come in handy for the next arrival, he was only a hatchling and it lasted him until 1yr old They are lovely, and really safe, but I found it really overheated in the summer and replaced it with a 24" monkfield terranium which I've been very happy with |

Posted - 29/01/2013 : 09:40:16 IMO the floor space is far too small - obviously all snakes are different, but even Ember my smaller snake was in a 3ft viv by 9 months. Corno was in a 3ft by about 5 months. They have both been fine as I put loads of hides and foliage in for them to hide in. If you like the exo terra I would go for the wider flatter version. http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/reptile-supplies/reptile-terrariums/terrariums-by-exo-terra/exo-terra-glass-terrarium-90x45x45cm.html |

Posted - 29/01/2013 : 09:26:09 I kept both of my hatchlings in a 30 x 30 x 30 (one each) until I moved them into their 3' vivs, but at 9 months old I wouldn't bother, as Red123 has said it wont last long and yes they do get behind the background all the time. If I was you I would probably just put straight into a larger wooden viv, unless it is a very 'tiddly' 9month old. |

Posted - 29/01/2013 : 06:23:47 Personally I would say its a waist of time. It just won't last, its to small. A larger one like that would be fine as you don't have to worry about ambient temperatures so much when housing a corn snake. Once fully decorated the exo terras look really nice but are expensive in comparison to a wooden vivarium.
Young corns have a habit of getting behind the background if you use it. |
