Haven't seen her for 3 days and assumed she was just hiding in her hide - she does that a lot. Really worried now that because we didn't know she was missing she will ave died of dehydration by now :( |

Posted - 27/01/2013 : 21:54:00 Yep, like Smart bunny says, they can squeeze through the gap, if small enough. The paper binder will stop that, if she doesn't see the gap, she won't even try. If not, you can just fold a bit of cardboard for now ( like from a cereal box, for example ), and wedge it in the gap between the glass. That will also stop her opening the doors, till the lock arrives :-) The sliding doors can be a pain, it happens to me sometimes, that when I slide one door shut, it can pull the other door open, just a tiny bit - almost doesn't show, but it's a big enough gap for a determined snake to get through. I check both doors every time now. :-) |

Posted - 27/01/2013 : 21:31:24 That's brill news :D - important point though - if you have a wooden viv, do you have a paper binder on one of the doors to block the gap? She may have squeezed out between the panes of glass (or may next time :p), you'd be surprised how large a snake can fit through those gaps! |

So glad you found her :-), and for your son, too. Have you found out, how she managed to get out? I'm only asking, because they seem to remember how they got out, and do it again. Have you got her in a faunarium?
She's in a wooden viv. Son says the door was slightly ajar so either he left it slightly open or she managed to push it open. Either way I have a vivarium door lock on the way! |

Posted - 27/01/2013 : 08:02:09 So I spent hours searching everywhere. Took half the house apart searching everything - nothing. Then made bottle traps and put water bowls around the house surrounded with flour. Went to bed very stressed as my son had been crying half the evening and eventually cried himself to sleep.
Got up in the middle of the night to go to the loo - and there was Martha, crawling along the bathroom floor!!!! Thanks to my pathetically weak bladder son and snake are reunited. Don't think I have ever seen him look happier!! |

Posted - 26/01/2013 : 23:22:48 I hope that you find her. Lots of people find missing snakes, sometimes months or years after they disappear. |
