Had a bit of a let down regarding picking up Indy on Monday. I'm now picking a completely different snake up on either Tuesday or Wednesday. So frustrated at the store right now! But still keeping the name 'Indy' though for new snake.

I've been handling the first Indy for about a week, but went to the store today to find out that they sold her...despite me already paying for her and them reserving her for me to collect on Monday. I've written a very strong worded complaint to the store.

Someone on Facebook asked if it was a chain store which I don't think it is, but can't mention names of stores on here...although pet store in question is in Henlow, Bedfordshire (probably gave it away now lol). Normally the staff at the store seem to know what they are talking about, but I was shocked, angry and upset to find out what they had done.

To be honest, my P@H has been great whenever I go in there. The reptiles, fish and animals are all healthy and any dead fish are immediately removed from the tanks. I'm actually considering going to P@H to get my new snake. Just got to hope I get my money back from the other store first.

I'm going back to the store on Tuesday, and I will get my money back even if I have to fight for it. Will just use them for equipment etc. Thankfully I have the receipt for 'Indy' in my bag as she was only on hold there whilst I got my faunarium sorted this weekend.

So frustrated right now at the moment *sigh*

I'm going over to the store tomorrow to sort the situation out and to get my money back. I've got my eye on a couple of CB12 hatchlings at the moment at Pets At Home, so may end up going there tomorrow lol.

no worries, I can but try! Good luck at the shop, I hope you get it all sorted

Hey Andy.

Yes I live in Beds.

Regarding snake search I have seen a couple of hatchlings that I like, but got to sort the first situation in original post before I go for anything else.

Glad you enjoyed your time in Snakes n Adders...did you bring anything home? Lol

Was wondering if anyone had used Blue Lizard Reptiles website for ordering snakes and if so what feedback do you have for them?

I've seen a lovely Caramel 2012 Corn snake for sale, but obviously never used a website for ordering live animals before.

I've used them for F10 (and they were very good) but not used them for livestock.
I always prefer to see any pet in the flesh before buying. I'd be too worried there may be an issue with the animal and I'd be too emotional to deal with it all.

Thanks Andy. I live pretty far away from there...as in Bedfordshire lol. I also don't drive at this moment in time, as I am currently re-learning my theory exam.

I've sent off a few question regarding their corn snake and animal delivery option and providing I get the right answers back I might order one online.

Go to the Citizens Advice Bureau to see what you can do, you must have been protected by consumer rights given that you had purchased the snake and they had agreed to look after YOUR snake whilst you got it's housing sorted.

its a shame things like this happen, id have the money back and spend it elsewhere. however, im sure whichever one you end up with, it will make you happy, weve had ours for only a maatter of weeks, but shes fascinating. dont let it put you off.
Hissyfit Posted - 13/01/2013 : 12:03:53
That's such a rotten thing to happen Make sure you get your money back as others have said, and personally, I'd never use the store again for anything! Have a look on Preloved for local breeders, it would let you see where the snake was bred and you'd pay a lot less for your new snake from a breeder. Don't let it put you off, your new snake is out there just waiting for you to take her home

I'm sorry for you, having such a bad experience right at the beginning of snake ownership. Just a thought - it might be worth finding out, if there are any breeders around your area. That way you will have a good choice, and you'd know they won't sell your snake to someone else, plus they 'd probably be much cheaper than big stores - and you'd have the full history and breeding of your snake, too.
