Posted - 06/01/2013 : 11:38:37 Hi,
I fed Basil last night and he went into his cold end hide. He didn't move over to the warm end, which I though may be as he is getting a bit big for the coconut at that end. Have change the hide now and he stayed in the cold end for a bit, he is now hanging out on the top of his vine. What is he up to?! he usually goes straight into his warm end hide to digest after feeding.
I did move him back from my boyfriend's house yesterday as I had him there over christmas for a couple of weeks, so he had a car journey of about 2 hours. I let him settle for about 4 hours and got the temps back up to normal before feeding, and he ate fine, struck and coiled, but could the travelling of messed him up a bit?
My other thought was could he still be hungry? I think he might be due to move up a mouse size as it seemed to go down pretty quick this time, and only a small bump.
Thanks

Posted - 06/01/2013 : 16:39:18 Thanks everyone, I was just a little worried because of the travelling. He is in his warm end now so obviously decided it is time to stop being nosey |

Posted - 06/01/2013 : 13:57:40 Wouldn't worry about it. Apollo almost always heads straight for the cold end to digest and Aphrodite decided that sitting on top of her plant out in the open was the best place for it last time! I figure that snakes know what they're doing, even if it seems weird to me.
I have moved Apollo into his warm hide once though, when he still had a feeding bulge three days after he ate and I was worried he would make himself regurge. He promptly moved back into the cool end and was absolutely fine He obviously knew best *shrugs* |

Posted - 06/01/2013 : 13:13:04 Same as Razee, Star will sometimes eat then go and chill on her vine or the top her mug tree for a couple of days, im sure he will be fine it may just take a little longer to digest |

Posted - 06/01/2013 : 12:18:18 Don't worry too much, jenjen. My Bazil sometimes does exactly the same, and it used to worry me, too, I even took away his cold hide once, to make him go to the warm one, when the cold side temperature was only 18 c. Didn't need to worry, they can digest even at 19 or 20 C only, it just takes them much longer, around 5 days to poop. He will do, what he wants to do, if he needs to warm up, he'll go to the warm side.
