Posted - 05/01/2013 : 19:15:37 Basically, I'm changing all my corn snake vivs around as I realise that although they look fine, their vivs aren't the best of environments... No stat on the heat mat, no guard on the bulb(this will be going though) and their humidity rises because the viv get's too warm. When I get the new vivs I'll be on a budget but here's my plan.
Get all 3 vivs on Mat Stat's and heat mat's for heat. LED light strips in the vivs rather than bulb fittings and bulbs which means money for guards too. Preferably all vivs on either repti carpet or beech chips.
I think that's it So I need some recommendations on where I can get both Mat Stats and Mats on a budget. I know they're not going to be like £5 but I can't afford to pay £50 for each stat and £20 for each mat... |

Have you had a look on ebay for mats and stats? 200W may be good enough it all depends on how may mats you are putting on it and their total power consumption
spot on there is no way i would ever take the risk |

Me too. I have two lx36s with the same size mats in but have a stat for each.
I currently have three hatchlings sat in RUBs on one big mat which is controlled by a stat with the probe in one of the RUBs. This worked quite well but now I've got to upgrade their housing for bigger sizes and I've just bought two new stats. I prefer the temperature range on pulse stats so this will be an expensive upgrade, plus i've only got one of the three fauns and no new heat mats yet...

Expensive...
Habistat mats are good but it isn't going to be cheap to buy three mats and three stats all at once. I kinda know how you feel... |

Posted - 05/01/2013 : 20:35:32 to run 3 mats off one stat the mats need to be the same size. if there not they will be heated to different temps depending on which mat you have the probe on |

Posted - 05/01/2013 : 19:35:42 Thanks everyone Would a 200w Stat be OK or do you reckon I'd need bigger? The viv size are as follows, largest to smallest. 48"x24"x24" 36"x15"x18" 30"x12"x15"
This is all Length x Width x Height. |

Posted - 05/01/2013 : 19:25:53 Thank you but the biggest viv will be 4'x2'x2' so I'd need a big mat for that and yes I had thought about it but how much would a 3 way stat be? Also, I'm in Sheff so ordering online is probably my best bet... |

Posted - 05/01/2013 : 19:20:05 Have you considered running all three mats off one stat? You would need digital thermometers but as long as you keep a very close eye on the temps this would be possible?
Also (as much as i hate to recommend them, for personal reasons) you can get stats at around £20 each from surrey pets supplies and mats suitable for a 3ft viv for around £9 each from them |
