Hey everyone.

I'm not allowed to get my Corn Snake for about another year yet, but already doing a load of research and have started buying a few bits and pieces for when I can finally get one.

When I first get my snake, I will be putting it into a 45x45x45cm Exo Terra Terrarium (which currently one of my female gerbils is residing in it but when she has passed away, I am allowed to get Corn Snake :).

My question is - what would be the best size heat mat for this size tank?

My friend said I would need a 22.5cm one (to cover half the tank floor), but I can't seem to find one that size in the 2 local pets stores in my area (Bedford, UK). I can find either smaller or larger sizes, but not one that would be the right size for the terrarium.

Any ideas?

Lots of thanks in advance and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - those that celebrate it :)

Julz xx

I'm waiting for her to pass away naturally BEFORE I get my corn snake. Parents and I know it will be unfair if I get snake whilst I still have rodents in my bedroom. So please don't worry, I am NOT getting a snake whilst I have furries :)x

Also regarding getting a faunarium...my parents don't want another tank in my bedroom and I have been told that my smaller Exo Terra Terrarium (45x45x45cm) will be fine for a hatchling Corn Snake.

My thoughts too!

Why don't you get a faunarium and use that for a young snake?
It will be fine until the snake is bigger and you use a heat mat, thermostat and thermometer just as you would with the terrarium.

The rule is 1/3 -1/2 the floor space so smaller x
