I'll keep it short, 6x11" heat mat on a stat, mat is ontop of a thin slice of polystyrene and the rub placed directly on the mat. Stat probe and temp probe are in the rub, in the middle of the mat. No sustrait yet but will be kitchen roll, but the floor temps will no go above 26.7'c, been playing about for days trying to get it warmer but will not go over 26.7'c even unstated :( Im worried it will be too cold in there for a corn after i add the kitchen roll. Even with out it the temps are low for the warm side... what can i do?
Thanks in advance :)

Was thinking that but the mat is a bit too big to go inside the rub, plus i find that heat mats never heat up unless something is in contact with them?

It's odd. The heat would normally transfer straight through. I have rubs set up like this with no issue.

Yup, rub has a completely flat bottom aswell. Im thinking of gettin a different one as the heat is clearly not getting through :(

The mat heats up enough, I get 39'c with just the probe on the mat, stat is working fine, but temps in the rub are really struggling. Is there any way to get a better heat transfer? .... and yeah its a digi temp probe

are you using a digital thermometer to check your temps?

Try putting the probe direct on the mat. To prove if the mat is faulty or not.

Maybe the heat is struggling to get through the plastic?

In one of my vivs I have the heat mat inside the viv. When the snakes are cold, they love to burrow in the substrate and get directly on top of the mat.

As for the temps being too low even without substrate... not much you can do but buy a better heat mat, I suppose :(
