hey guys,

I have had smokey on double pinks for awhile now and i thought it was time to move up to fluffs, i just got the 1st one out to defrost for tonight and it looks BIG compared to the pinks he has had. this could be an experiance tonight, lets hope he takes it ok. just a quick question do you think the size if prey could freak the snake out? he was getting brave with the pinks and starting to grab it with his mouth and wouldn't let go :) should i ofer him a fluff in the same way as the pinks?

Thanks

The first one of any move up size always seems daunting to us but they tend to take it in there stride

Just treat it like you always feed him.
As long as it's no bigger than 1.5 his widest part he'll be fine.
It will be you worrying that it looks too big!!

I would offer it in the same way as the pinkies and see how he reacts. As long as the fluff is no wider than 1.5x the width of his body he should be fine.

Apollo's feeding behaviour became more enthusiastic once he started on fluffs. He had never struck before but the first one he constricted it for 5 minutes to make sure it was dead. He still does this from time to time. Looking forward to seeing what he'll do with his first small next weekend (been on hoppers for a bit and even managed a double hopper feed so I know he'll be fine but still a bit scary.)

yes can't wait to see what he like, i am shocked in the size difference tho...

the last few feeds have been good, you can tell he has picked up the scent and he goes into hunting mode. i use feeding tongs as well and when he bites it he wont let go lol thanks for the feed back :)
