can you describe how your tank is setup for the heating, ie mat, stat, thermometer location, stat probe location and what kind of viv it is.

Although the thermometer at the top of the viv is no use, needs to be on the substrate over the mat

U need to be measuring the temperature directly on the bottom of the tank to start and ideally with a digital thermometer. Is the mat on a thermostat

i have a thermometer at the top of my tank which reads 60F when the central heating isnt on,the heat mat is placed at the bottom of the tank, would it be worth moving the heat mat?

a heatmat running at 28oc isn't going to feel warm to us as we run at a higher temparature, also heat mats don't heat the air so the viv won't feel warm. how do you have your heat mat set up?
