Hey there!

I bought Discordia a month and a half ago at 11 months of age, and followed the seller's advice to feed her with a pinky every week. I was a little suspicious at first, because when Discordia had swallowed the prey you could hardly tell where it was. So in order to check if she'd want another one I offered her a second pinky. She refused. Now I guess I just was too fast on giving her a second prey.

Then I started looking around here, and it turns out 55cm for an 11months old corn isn't the average. I know all snakes grow at different rates, so that's why I checked my opinion with a snake seller. He confirmed Discordia should be on fluffs now, or at least at two pinkies... every 5 days.

I've been starving my corn, yay! That makes me feel awful bad.
Anyhow, I fed her two pinkies yesterday. She refused the second one again, but ate it eventually when I left her alone. And I decided to also compliment that with some calcium powder.

What's your experience with calcium powder so far? Yay or nay?

Great links there, and the results speak for themselves...

I wouldn't fret, I have a 15 month old that is barely touching 30g. He's not unhealthy, eats like a pig, but he is just tiny! He eats two fluffs, and there is not a hope in hell of him eating a small, he looks like a stuffed sausage after I feed him lol!
I have a corn exactly the same age as him, who is exactly 100g bigger!

OMG those videos are stunning! Well, I think the second link wasn't the right one, so if anyone's interested at the results take a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyXZN25XOZo (starts at 2:10 aprox).

My corn must definitely be on group 4 , the tiniest ones (for now, ha!). I need to upgrade the size of her meals, although apparently all 4 diets were okay. So it seems I wasn't hurting my snake after all. Thanks for that ! :)

And good to know vitamins were helping, as some of you said, it can't hurt!

As long as she's not tent-shaped you shouldn't worried about having starved her :) Not all snakes eat as much as others.

Thanks ^^ I guess it really depends on the snake, but I do feel a little betrayed by that seller. The size of the prey to feed is the only advice I couldn't find in the books I bought, obviously because it's a case by case thing, so I relied on him. Anyhow, I am glad the problem has been pointed out, the sooner the better so I'll be able to solve it :) Let's gradually move on to fluffs!
And yeah, I guess anyhow she's been better fed than in the wild, that comforts me a little!

If you've been feeding her every 5days and she eats as much as she wanted you haven't been starving her so don't feel bad.
Just continue to offer her double pinkies for a few feeds and if she keeps them down then you can go up a size.
I've never used any powder suppliments for my snakes. Like Gmac I consider them to get all the nutrients they need from their mice.
Hope you'll stop feeling bad now...

Corn snakes do grow at quite different rates anyway, so don't feel too bad. A lot of people who buy snakes are given terrible advice from petshops or sellers. Some people choose to feed their snakes once a week and some people choose to feed them once every 5 days. Snakes wouldn't eat so regularly in the wild, it would be much more random.

never used it, they get enough calcium from the prey. But wont do any harm in using it.

Wow! Interesting enough I just started a thread as mine is only just 3 months old and has taken a fluff and pinky.

So I was just as confused as you in regards to what sizes ect. George seems to just eat and hardly any lumps are around. Starting to wonder whether I have got the age wrong.
