Posted - 02/11/2012 : 20:19:27 Hello people....
At the moment i have my 5 month corn in the monkfield 24" ter. I have to admit i am very happy with it and i can see him being in there for awhile yet. When i do upgrade tho i think i will go for some thing with a bit of height... Any way what the question is what shall i do with my mokfield?? I would like another snake but I don't want to have to upgrade again... Any one know of any type of snake i could keep in there for life? Or lizzard? cheers |

Posted - 20/11/2012 : 15:03:44 still trying to find more info on the tri-coloured hognose snake, any one own one on here? they wont let me join the hognose forum for some reason and it doesn't look like it is being used much anyway. loads of stuff on the western hognose but not much on tri-coloured.
what i would like to know is:
are they active snakes to watch?
do they make good for people just getting into snakes? i.e me who only has 1 Corn.
i have heard the are bad feeders? is this true and is it easy to get past?
any more info would be great.
Thanks |

Posted - 04/11/2012 : 19:01:33 not much you can do about the low end is usually ambient room temps. snakes will go to where they need so will move when cool and vice versa |

aye would need a seperate stat, cant run hog and corn on same stat as you mentioned different temps required.
and you dont need to pile the substrate over the hot end just give them somewhere to dig in the cooler end ;) a cm or so will be fine at the hot end
ah thanks for getting back to me... the more i am thinking about it the more i am getting carried away :) any ideas about the cold end? |

for biggies heatmat and stat ;) (sorry couldnt resist)
Gmac just a quick question would i have to get a new stat then because it looks like the temps have to hotter for a hoggie then a corn? would a heat mat work as well coz you need to put more aspen down for them to dig in? and the cold end also has to be warm i think around 24oc how do you get it tha hot with outh having a massive heating bill in the house? at the moment the cold end in for my corn is abot 19 o c. i am just abit lost on this lol |

Posted - 04/11/2012 : 16:12:48 When i asked I was told it would be too small as I have a 24" spare but hey ho. Higgins are good because you can normally sex by their tails. Makes finding a male easier. X |

Orly?
Most of what I've read the western hognose max's at 36"
That would make a 24x12 the minimum but still within the 2/3rds 1/3rd limit...
My plan also calls for a male, principally because they tend to be smaller. |
