Hello all I am going to be purchasing my corn soon will be buying a CB12 so I am curious what size you would recommend out of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clear-Plastic-Storage-Box-Boxes-With-Lids-SIZE-CHOICE-/380311220741?pt=UK_Storage&var=&hash=item588c50b205 Thank You

Just be careful. A hatchie could easily squeeze through the gap in the lx 24 where
the glass overlaps, so best block it with a plastic paper binder or folded piece of card.

Yep! They give a good all round light to the viv.

I'm finding that Ive finally put together my lx24 and already I am eying up what I will one day be upgrading to. *not even got a corn yet* lol By the way Auld those lights seem to work very well in the VIV could not believe how bright they was though really took me by surprise :)

It is never complete. It is always just starting.

Thank You all :) When I came on and started reading the replies I was like hides and water bowls why does a feeding RUB need that.. then I read my comment and was like -.- idiot lol. Thank You again all I will be ordering my RUB now to almost complete my full setup. Snakes home is almost ready :)

If it is just for feeding then a 2 litre ice cream tub will do fine.

Lol nevermind well to be honest all kine get fed in an 11 litre rub with no problems however the hatchlings get fed in their rubs untill they are established feeders then i start feeding them in the bigger rub like the others

Oh and my RUBs are about 20cm deep :) but I don't think depth/height matters too much, as long as you can fit your decor in!

As a general rule, I have been told that the length of your snake should easily fit as an L shape along the length and width of its enclosure. I have two 4month old babies, both around 2ft and they have 1.5ft x 1ft RUBs (really useful boxes) which gives them abit of growing room at the moment, and easily fits in two hides and a water bowl. I agree that the Really Useful Boxes are the best brand, I have also bought others and found that the bottoms aren't entirely flat, so the heat mat doesn't touch it properly. The RUBs have flat bottoms, clip lids and are made out of really sturdy plastic so that when you drill the air holes in, it doesn't crack. I would absolutely recommend them!

Also if you get a really useful box make sure its not too big and they can escape through the lip of the lid, i had one do this but yes as others have said not too big, flat bottom and a clip lid
paulie78 Posted - 23/10/2012 : 10:20:07
I really wouldnt use anything but the really usefull box brand i know they are pricier but are worth it for the piece of mind also looking at that rub ive had the same type for one of my royals getting the temps right were a nightmare because the bottom of the rub isnt actually flat theres a few mm gap which means the heat mats not in contact with the rub so be sure anything u do buy has a completely flat bottom

Careful, it looks as if only the smallest has a clip lid. Plus the postage is £8.You can get suitable boxes from your local PoundLand/ Pound Stretcher/ More Stores.

A hatchie doesn't need a huge box but it still needs to be big enough for hides and water dish. Someone who already has a small RUB set up will suggest actual sizes used. I've never had a hatchie and all mine are in vivs.
