Just a quicky which way round is best on the mat with a stat.

Gold stips up or down? Or does it matter?

I have it strips facing up so will leave it like that

As above. I put mine gold strips up because as Auld Baldy said, the connection block is more raised one side than the other. If you put the gold strips up then the connection block sits a bit flatter It doesn't really matter though, more personal choice I think.

If in doubt - ask.Even if it sounds daft.

There is usually a flat base on the connection block but it won't really make any difference to the heating effect if you put it in upside down.
