My corn George spends a great deal of time hiding in his cool side hide. If not there he is sure to be under his coconut on his heat mat.

He comes out at around 10pm, in search of some attention. Only thing is I'm not about. George will only come out of hiding if his viv is in darkness.

He has never made a strike or shown signs of aggression and can tolerate endless amount of time being handled.

Any advice for getting George more active or is this reality with all corns and am I expecting to much ? Or is this age related ?

Hope I do not come across as an selfish keeper. I just really love seeing him.

Yep, I agree with herriotfan. When Corny was a hatchling he used to hide more but in last few months, he seems to know when it's about 7pm coz he's waiting at his glass to come out!

It was funny on Monday coz he came out earlier, at about 6.30pm, never stopped moving then as soon as Corrie came on (his fave), he stopped dead & watched all of 1st half!!

im glad its not just me who thinks snakes like tv lol. Mine is permanently at the glass 'watching' tv lol. When the world cup was on my boyfriend told me that Percy supported spain and watched the matches ...I told him not to be so stupid and low and behold when Spain was on he was at the glass! Ha ha silly coincidence but was still funny!x

Ahh that's a good Idea. I think I'll do that too. He tends to chill out on his rope at like 12pm but by this time I'm hitting the wooden hill

I've taken to turning on the lights a bit earlier in the morning and switching them off earlier in the evening. This means I get to enjoy my snakes being active a good while before I go to bed :)

lol, yep I know! Sounds crazy but it's true! He also stopped & watched Kirstie on Location x 3 so he must be a fan of hers too!

Also agree with herrotfan. Mine was the same when younger. Now shes a bit older she is out more often and i see her more. She genereally takes a roam at around 5-6pm while the light is on. Then again about 9pm is when the light has gone off. I have moonlight lights for her too and often see her exploring late at night too.

Normal, normal, normal! You may find as he gets older he'll come out a bit more. Mine used to hide loads as hatchlings but they do spend more time out now unless going into shed.

Yeah Ruby's the same, pretty sure she's half vampire lol

Thanks all. Just glad there is nothing wrong with
him
Moppet Posted - 03/10/2012 : 06:42:11
That sounds pretty normal to me. Some corns are more active and some just seem shy. I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen Apollo out and about in his faun since I got him 5 months ago... He's the most laid back snake ever to handle, just doesn't roam his faun a whole lot. Aphrodite on the other hand is out and about every single afternoon and all night until about midday except on the day she has been fed, then she hides for about 12 hours before coming back out again haha.

My Tanith spends all her time hiding but is really great to handle and hasn't tried to bite at all. I was very surprised and excited to see her actually out in the open today. She's so beautiful

Eloise's Ruby, who is older by a month, is out all the time and a pleasure to watch, but isn't quite so chilled, although she's getting there, still bites now and again.

My oldest Big Red, spends all of her time in the cold side.Exept for about an hour after i feed her.
Thorne Walker Posted - 02/10/2012 : 23:30:28
Sounds like Kitty...

I'm always surprised when I see him roaming...
Kyla Posted - 02/10/2012 : 23:25:23
My snow corn does the same thing, for the last two days it's been in it's hide on the cold side. Since I've had it only a week I think it's normal.. I hope at least! It's still worrying. I would love to see it more if only to know that it's alright!
