Posted - 26/09/2012 : 10:45:06 If he has retained shed then you really do need to help him get it off. Leaving stuck shed, especially on the tail tip, can cause problems and even death and then loss of the tail tip. It might be that he's feeling uncomfortable due to the retained shed and that's why he's off food? As above, moss hide only for when in shed and reduce the temp slightly at the hot end. Also how do you measure your temps? You need to be using a digital thermometer probe on top of the mat - if so then great. If you are using a dial thermometer stuck on the side of the viv then the temps will actually be much higher then you think and dangerously high. |

Posted - 25/09/2012 : 22:01:14 Does he have access to the moss all the time? I think it's meant to be a bit dangerous for their respiratory system to always have access to it. If it's just because of the shed then it might be more beneficial to take it out and do a soak 'n' glide I think it is everyone suggests. Also, my thermostat goes above 29 sometimes, not often but sometimes. Floridian heat gets that warm as well so don't worry too much if it's just fluctuation. Better he has the choice of the warmth than a mat that might get lower due to trying to keep it below 29. |

The bloke I got him from guessed between 2 and 3
Educated guess though lol

Posted - 25/09/2012 : 21:14:26 Yeh done that a few times. Maybe I'll try again. It seems like he has been in blue twice but still shedding fro the last one if that makes sense ;) |

Posted - 25/09/2012 : 21:06:29 30 is bit high, shouldnt really be hotter than 29, they sometimes dont eat for a few weeks, dont worry just yet. He still has shed from last time? About an inch of just warm water in the bath, let him soak for few mins, then go through towel several times |
