Hi all
It's been a while since I posted. I've had MorHissy for around three months now and he doesn't seem to be getting used to me. I've had no other issues. He feeds quite happily (I always leave him for a couple of days after a feed) and shed for the first time without any issues.
Some days he's fine and doesn't complain about being handled, others he'll rattle his tail and strike. He always tries to get away when picking him up but seems comfortable when I am actually handling him. Although last week he did bite my hand whilst he was squirming round it. If I hadn't seen him do it I wouldn't have felt it!
I've tried the sock and also a glove which he loves and lives in when he's in there.
Do they just 'grow out of it', or is it just a natural part of their temprament?

Also, bear in mind if he's going into blue he will be a lot more grumpy - Corno always tail rattles at me if I get her out and she's getting ready to shed - but is fine once out :) |

Thanks for the advice. I had 15 minute session with him tonight before feeding him and he was ungrumpy. In fact he seemed to enjoy being handled. He reminded me of a little baby, wrapping his tail around my little finger as he was looking around. |

Just don't give up  If you keep at it long enough, with lots of short handling sessions, he'll get there eventually. Good luck. |

As said, lots of sort handling sessions is the key. |

Just stick with it try to handle everyday for short periods if you can dont let the bad behaviour put you off Ofelia was just the same a right troubelsome lil lady but now shes approaching a year old shes actually chilled out sooo much just hang on in there |

Hi , Snowdrop my youngest is 6 months old she is the grumpiest corn we have, the other two were never as grumpy at her age. That said regular short handling sessions are working and to my surprise on Sunday she sat on my arm for 20 mins quite happily.MorHissy will get used to be handled in time, sounds like you are doing everything right. |

It takes some snakes a long time to settle down....even years sometimes. In the wild they are prey so it's natural to be on the defensive and try to stay out of harms way! Hatchlings quite often bite but like you say it's not painful and most grow out of it fairly quickly especially if they're handled a lot. Keep up the good work and give him time. |

Some are just grumpier than others!
How old is he? The smaller ones can be more defensive than the big guys and usually grow out of it with enough time/attetion |
