Hi,

We'll have had Corny a year next month & his first 5 sheds were complete. His sixth shed (last one in his fauna before going in his new viv) was incomplete & so were his seventh & eighth sheds.

I am a little worried as to why he has stopped shedding in one complete go & if there's anything we are doing wrong.

After his first broken shed, when he showed signs of going into blue again, we started spraying his viv to try & help him. We know there's moss we can use but I'm wondering why he's not doing complete sheds anymore?

My OH soaks Cornys' substrate in water & heat treats it before we put it in his viv. Could we be letting it dry too much before we're putting it in? When we moved him into his new viv (05/08), we didn't dry it enough so the glass was steaming up. Is there any middle ground.....!!

Thanks.

Some of mine have experienced the same problem, use to shed fine then for some reason kept shedding incomplete. I add a moss box when they go blue now, the ones that had probelms, and that has sorted it. I wonder if its been something to do with the weather we have been having over the last few months, very changeable.

Moist hides sorted Apollo's shedding issues He apparently shed fine without them in the past but since I've got him it was just all coming off in little bits and he looked so fed up bless him. I put a moss in both of his hides (then he has no choice not to be moist!) when his eyes go clear after being blue and that has sorted it so far

I have experianced a couple of incomplete sheds with mine , by putting them in some very luke warm water and letting them soak for about 10 min , then letting them run through a towel the loose skin has come away.

Yep, we know not to spray too much because it can cause problems. Next time he's due to shed, might try moving his water dish over to warm side. Thx.

Personally I only use a damp moss hide and move the water dish to the warm side when mine start to go blue. The problem with keeping substrate dampish and spraying the viv is that too much humidity can result in respiratory problems.
