Posted - 03/09/2012 : 19:36:52 Just a couple of questions, have only had little Ruby a few days now and only took the one picture but obviously want to take more and was just wondering if the flash (that makes the pics much clearer) would do any damage to her eyes?
Also as she's based in the bedroom I sometimes use deodorant/anti-perspirant in the room and was thinking would it be best to do put it in on elsewhere just in case it might affect her in some way? |

ok am curious what do you use to make your own?
Coconut oil, tea tree oil, euculiptus oil, corn starch and bicarbonate of soda :) |

Posted - 05/09/2012 : 20:21:29 Please do not use directly. Just because your snake doesn't react to it, doesn't mean it's not effected by it. At least, put some thin paper over the flash. Besides, most flashes make pictures look ugly and flat in colour. As for sprays, do it in another room if you can or if its a big room, as far away as possible. |

yeah aerosols are bad for our lungs so it can't be very good for tiny snakey lungs, stick to roll on or make your own eco friendly, aluminium free, vegan antiperspirant! i have the recipe if anyone wants it! no takers? probably not...

I'm on the facebook page, if you'd mention something about it, I will contact you, I hate aerosols, they choke me lol, and it would be interesting to know what you use :) |

Posted - 04/09/2012 : 09:49:26 My guys don't have a problem with the flash. I wouldn't advise deodrant near them though...it probly tastes horrible to them XD |

Posted - 04/09/2012 : 00:27:38 Even roll on is chemical laden.. as an example (first one I found)
Secret Platinum Antiperspirant & Deodorant
Active Ingredients: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly (19%) (Anhydrous) (Antiperspirant)
Inactive Ingredients: CyclopentaSiloxane, Dimethicone, Tribehenin, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, Fragrance
ALUMINUM ZIRCONIUM TETRACHLOROHYDREX GLYCINE COMPLEX: =>Developmental/reproductive toxicity, Neurotoxicity
CYCLOPENTASILOXANE: => Cancer, Neurotoxicity, Endocrine disruption, Persistence and bioaccumulation
So the main ingredient is a brain poison and messes with your ability to have kids. The biggest part of the rest of the thing has been linked to bladder tumours (cancer).
Yeah sign me up for that...

Posted - 03/09/2012 : 23:34:30 Yeah :) I can't find good cosmetics that aren't tested on animals/don't use animal products. So i make my own. Its also sooo much cheaper and better for you ^^ |

Posted - 03/09/2012 : 20:23:12 There are so many ingredients in personal products these days that there is really no way to tell...

Fair warning though, once you open the box on what is exactly in your products you may find yourself shocked and horrified by what it can do to you let alone your animals.
As a perfect example you'd be surprised how many 'buy this product to support cancer research' products actually contain ingredients known to cause cancer. |

Posted - 03/09/2012 : 19:56:59 I use flash with Apollo because he doesn't react to it or seem to care but Titan obviously doesn't like it so I try to take pictures without it for him
I also have mine in the bedroom and I don't put deodorant on in there, but that is more to do with the fish tank than the snakes so I am not really sure if it would bother them. |

Posted - 03/09/2012 : 19:54:52 The flash from the camera should be fine and my snakes are also in my bedroom so I put deodorant/spray on in the hallway |
