Posted - 14/08/2012 : 08:17:28 I have tried various substrates, beech chip, newspaper, kitchen towel and aubiose. Well I am now trying ecobed. For anyone that doesn't know what it is its 1" squares of unprinted corrugated cardboard. Its 100% biodegradable and virtually dust free. Comes in a 20kg bale for £7.00. I have decided to use this with Keith to start with and see how things go. First impressions are POSITIVES Only a very slight smell to it, not unpleasant. Feels quite soft when scooping handfuls up, no splinters to worry about. Looks pretty good in the viv. (will post a pic when my camera decides to work again) Very absorbant. (Keith left me a present during the night) Keith can burrow in it.
NEGATIVES To early to say, so far so good.
Just thought it may be helpful for other people to know what this bedding is like.

Posted - 24/10/2012 : 17:41:13 Ive got repticarpet and love it, easy to spot clean and looks good. I have a few so I can have a clean one in while the dirty one soaks and dries. The only down side is Jake cant burrow but he does get under it sometimes :) lol. |

Posted - 24/10/2012 : 14:56:01 Well I have stopped using the eco bedding. Keith hated it and spent all his time either on the table and trying his hardest to move from one hide to another without touching the cardboard. Sounds horrible but it was quite funny to watch. I think the problem was that the cardboard would just push away from him if he tried to go on it. When he ate his mouse on it there was a big bare patch where the cardboard had been pushed away by him. So I am still on the look out for that perfect bedding for both them and me :( |

I bought mine from a counrty and equestrian store called CWG. Its available through equestrian places mainly. I know several people use it for small furries, rabbits, guninea pigs, rats etc as I have done several years ago and it was brilliant for them. |
