My hot end temp is 29.3 is this a little warm? |

It does depend where the temperature reading is coming from and how you are measuring it.
If its a dial thermometer then yes it is far too hot as they only measure air temp and not the surface of the mat temp.
If you dont have a thermostat then yes its dangerous, turn off the mat until you can get it thermostatted.
Ideally you want the digital thermometer probe and the thermostat probe together, as close to the heat mat as the snake can get to it. Keeping temperatures under 30oC is important as cornsnakes dont cope well getting that hot. 28oC is the recommended average temperature but a degree either way is no problems provided its all under control with a stat and you can trust the readings you are getting are accurate. |

As long as your mat is statted there should be no reason to adjust the stat? |

Aslong as it doesnt go to 30 you will fine but if you spend a little time watching your snake you will be able to tell if this is the correct temp for them, for example one of mine wont go in the warm side if its over 27.5 degrees so yes general rule is anything upto 30 but your snake may prefer it a little cooler :) |

Mine can fluctuate up to something like that periodically, but doesn't stay there long. If that temp is being maintained then turn the stat down a bit. I think keeping them on the cooler end of acceptable is deemed better though. |
