Hi, after a two week holiday i came back and cleaned my corn snakes tank out, i pulled the water bowl out looked down and there were 6 flatten things. I can only decribe what i saw as a squahed grape, they were a flatten oval shape and was a yellowy/green colour. Can someone let me know if these are possible eggs that have gone wrong or what else this could be.
The 2 snakes i have in the tank are both 3 to 4 years old and are about 4ft each. When i brought them both i got told they were both females.

How old are both snakes?
And if you really want to be more safe than sorry until you get them sexed, move one of them to a separate enclosure. I'm also going to add that female snakes can also lay eggs without being mated, which are usually slugs. |

Hi, thanks for all your replies and thanks for clarifying what slugs are :) they weren't in the bowl they were under and just to the edge of it.
I didnt break them open as a few of them were already split and were slushy and the others were just really flat, you could still make out a egg type shape so based on your comments and what they looked like i presume they were eggs that went wrong.
So i will add a box of moss in there just to help out incase there are any eggs left, i dont think there is and they both ate yesterday so won't be able to check. I will try and get them both sexed properly soon to see if one in fact is a male and the other a female.
If they do happen to be eggs how long should it be before more are produced as i don't want to put their health in danger by letting them breed to soon (if they are mixed sex).
Sorry about the questions but bestter to be safe than sorry as this is the first time this has ever happened. |

Dan, just going from the colour and shape as a more likely possibility.
Both snakes supposedly female, left for 2 weeks, green/yellow and deposited in the water dish.
Gazza, have you tried breaking them open to see if they are definitely eggs? |

'Slugs' are infertile eggs, usually a yellow/brown colour. If you run your snakes through your hands, you should be able to feel if there are any eggs left in there. Corns usually lay eggs somewhere warm and moist, so a box full of damp moss will help if there are any more left. |

when you mean slugs, do you actually mean the slugs as in homeless snails? :) If so how would they get there?
In my opinion they look like a batch of 6 eggs as they are all in the same place, they were also stuck together.

They may well be females, if they are hard and yellow they poss will be slugs. I would suggest seperating them and putting lay boxes in and give them a good check over, if she laid the day you left and still has eggs she could have eggs left. |
