Ace is as bad tempered as ever?!
Found his shed last night so defrosted his food for today.
Went to lift his hid today to feed him and the tail went and all ready to strike. So fed him and left him be.
Looks like the weeks of handling previously have all gone to waste

So what now??
Do i just accept he not going to be handled? In 2 minds about the whole thing now.

add more cover.. you're doing teh right thing with the socks but give him more options..

and like the others have said be brave and keep at it.. if he knows he can scare you off he'll do it every time..

take the hit, be patient, and don't let him win!

Just keep handling mate, sometimes they are quick to be alright with handling, others take longer... my mexi-black took over a year before I would have called him "tame"... just gotta persevere... :)

How did you do the scent thing? I know I'm no expert (I'm a new owner too). But what i'v done is made the cool end hide out of a sock (that i carried around tucked inside the waist of my trousers for a few days so it really got my scent). I slid the sock in to a toilet rol tube and folded it back out over the outside of the tube. My corns love snuggling up inside them as they are dark and comfy, both also used the sock to start their sheds as the head ends of their sheds were actually inside the sock hides. As this was their only choice of cool end hide they had no choice but to use them and get used to my scent.

keep up the good work and don't loose hope, i've had my Star about a month nd half and she only just started to settle down she did the whole tail rattling and striking too just perseverance and confidence when you go to handle them. Also as others have said do you feed in the viv?

Dont give up one of mine goes a bit defensive after shedding but settles down after a day or so. Remember hes been in a vulnerable state for about 2wks so you will have to persevere and it will work out.

Did the scent trick the who;e way through his shedding.
Really at my wits end, he settled down a wee bit with the handling but the minute he went into blue he started striking (understandably)
so left him alone till he had shed.
He was probably hungry. Just gutted as the reason we fell in love with him was cause he was so easy to hadle in the shop, then a few days after we got him home the tail shaking started.
Just dont know what else to do

don't give up just yet, have you tried the scent trick? do you feed him in his viv/faun or do you put him in a rub? if he settled down with all the previous handling he should soon settle down again. Good luck. am sure some of the others will have some sugestions to help
