Thought I would get Kevin and John out to compare their tail length. Well I am now 100% sure that Kevin is male he showed me when I put his tail next to Johns who now needs a new name as John is definatley a young lady. Am thinking Joanna?

Tail length is very unaccurate my brothers corn had a male looking tail and probed female and the guy then did it again just to make sure as he was adiment that she was a he from the tail length, she still probed female.

There is absolutly no danger in getting snakes probed (by someone that knows what they are doing) i wouldnt have it any other way.

Bottom line, if you want to know the sex for definate get him/her probed.

Sanke is a definite girl, mainly because she is massive and has no/practically no spurs (Boas are easy to sex), hal is a boy, popped and also you can see his boy bits as he is see through. Duke is my only mystery, was bought as a boy but is massive for a boy so much so I know someone with a small Burm and he wants to pair them if he proves male for some burm balls.

Ooooo I would be very very interested in that. Don't know that the bank manager would be that keen though

Glad you like the name, a pretty name for a pretty little lady I really hope it doesn't happen again. I will go and change my sig again, right now.

:S My boys were 3 months old when they were popped. The guy had tried beforehand but it was inconclusive. They were so diddly still that he didn't dare probe them

These snakes are now 2 years old. I don't really want to have them probed, like I say, its just so I know. I have heard that probing can cause damage in some cases and don't want to risk this as they are family pets not for breeding.

Both snakes are the same size/length/weight and like I say Kevin exposed himself so thats a definate. Joannas tail is completely different to Kevins so I am farely sure. They will not be bred from its just so I know. I shall worry that Joanna will lay unfertilised eggs in the future would hate to lose another snake the same way we lost Cindy :(

I've always read that comparing tail length is far from accurate. It can be an indication, but isn't a guarantee for male or female. Some males have shorter tails than expected and some females have much longer ones. Best thing to do is pop down to where you got them, or to a breeder to get them sexed by popping/probing

Joanna is a great name to go with Kevin though.
