Sometimes they're just very defensive, in the shop I work at we have an Amel that will shoot up and 'S' like a proper ratsnake, and will tag you over and over and over, little bugger got me 10 times the other day! Just remember they're just scared, and don't let him get it in his head that you're gonna put him back if he does :)

i got the idea from here :D and a family friend aged 4 i think she always called me it and was here when i joined so i kinda had to do it LOL and a2c7 thanks for the help :) i didnt think about the "In fact, if you put it away every time it bites, it'll learn that that's how to get rid of you (the big, scary predator in it's eyes)" but it makes sooo much sense so i wont be putting her back when she bites me now i will be putting her back when she calms down ,, might help abit :D

always im getting skinks in a few days will they be ok to face each other across my bedroom ? if not i will sort something out :)

once again thanks

Ooh I might borrow that glove idea with my little one, hopefully soon she'll realise she's a corn snake, not a cobra rattle snake hybrid...

Love your name for here, every time I see it I start singing it lol! Too much time with young children!

It has to get used to the fact that you're not going to harm it, so letting it bite won't make it worse. In fact, if you put it away every time it bites, it'll learn that that's how to get rid of you (the big, scary predator in it's eyes)

Our kingsnake latches on like that, we put her head under a gently running tap of not cold or warm water. Sometimes we can get her off with a squirt or two of water from a spray bottle. Sometimes though she just has her psychotic days when she'll release you...only to bite again moments later.

The gloves are a good idea - this way you won't be on edge and won't jump (and throw the snake across the room like my partner once did) and the snake won't smell so much of you to begin with. As the snake seems to calm down once you've got it out of the viv you can slide the gloves off and handle without them.

so it wont make it worse letting it bite me? if not then i will put gloves on because then i can just take the gloves off and the snake with it because 12mins standing got a bit boring and now my hand looks like ive been eating it LOL

No fast way, just got to keep on handling for about 5 mins a day (do not handle for 48 hours after feeding) at the start and then increase the length of time gradually until snakey is happy being held. Just got to persevere with it and keep on taking the hits :)

i put my hand on the cold side where the snake was not and let it come over then bite me put the body around me so i thought ok its doing it because im inside her space so i took if out and it start to get tighter and bite more times lool is there any way of getting them tame fast ? or i just gotta wait ? i might put some latex gloves on ?

Nothing to worry about, corns being corns. Some are very defensive inside their vivs some are as good as gold depends on the snake. My Okeetee is the only one of mine who will hiss and strike, just defending theirselves. Did it know you were there or did you startle it? What was it like outside the viv?
